A Stand Up to Racism Manchester open organising meeting is taking place at Methodist Central Hall, Oldham Street, Manchester on Tuesday 17 May at 7pm. It will discuss details of the Convoy to Calais to support refugees on Saturday 18 June 2016.

With Mohammed Azam, former Labour councillor; and campaigner & Saira Weiner, UCU joint regional secretary, recently returned from solidarity delegation to Calais.

Mohammed will speak on the fight against Islamophobia after the religious profiling by GMP at the Trafford Centre ‘anti terror’ reherasal. ‘They have targeted only one faith, it’s not acceptable,’

Saira wil report on the situation in the Calais Camp today, and how we can build the Calais Convoy

Everyone can help raise money and publicising the convoy.

This week the government were forced to back down on their plan not to accept child refugees. This a good start – but we need to keep the pressure up to say refugees are welcome here!

All welcome at this open meeting – if you have any ideas/actions for discussion please get in touch
