Rally and march at Conservative Party Conference – Sunday 4 October 2015

A No to Austerity, Yes to Workers’ Rights rally and march will take place in Manchester on 4 October to coincide with the Conservative Party Conference. The protest is planned to be colourful, family friendly and is supported by the TUC and major anti-austerity organisations, including the People’s Assembly.

Attendees should meet on Oxford Road, from All Saints Park southwards, from 12 noon. The rally will start from 1pm and the march will move off at 1.30pm. You can find more information about the event here.

Please do come along if you can. It provides a high profile opportunity for us to highlight our campaign against education cuts, the growing teacher shortage and other damaging education policies.

If you can’t make it on the day, there are many other ways you can support your Union, for instance by asking a colleague to join the NUT. Do so by 30 November and you’ll also both be entered into our prize draw, with a chance to win an Apple Store Gift Card worth £250 each. For more ideas of how to get involved go here.

There will be food available, and our guest speaker, National Executive member Gawain Little, will talk on the Global Education Reform Movement (GERM). This will detail the efforts of governments across the globe to privatise education, and try to explain some of the problems that we now face in our own UK education system.
